Sunglint on the Alabama River

.In this June 26, 2023, photograph extracted from the International Spaceport station, sun light shines off the smooth waters of the Alabama Waterway in a sensation called sunglint. When photographing The planet, rocketeers commonly make the most of sunglint's propensity to enhance the contrast between water surface areas and regarding property surfaces. In the 1960s, the Alabama Waterway was actually clogged, developing Dannelly Tank (the huge shining location at center left). Building and construction of the dam also increased water table upriver. This resulted in flooding at several aspects along the river. These disaster area are normal of flood plains-- the poor, standard regions promptly close to much larger rivers. In this particular picture, disaster area seem like irregular, brilliant designs extending out of the stream, like at Gee's Bend (facility base).Text Credit: Justin Wilkinson.Picture Credit Scores: NASA/Woody Hoburg.
